NEW WINDPROOF FLEECE & A NEW VERSATILE SOFTSHELL JACKET FROM GILL

November 1st, 2010

Windproof Fleece (1462)

The Windproof Fleece (1462) is a great addition to any winter sailing kit and this new product from Gill does exactly what is says on the label. The fleece has a 100% windproof lining and a soft outer fabric with a water repellent finish, making it very warm but extremely comfortable to wear.

The styling is based on an outer shell jacket, and incorporates fleece lined inner cuffs, a draw string waist, and highlighted zip and trim details, so the fleece can be worn either as an outer jacket or as a warm mid-layer. Whatever you are sailing this Winter, it’s a great idea to add this versatile product to your kit bag.

Features you can trust:

• Breathable – keeps you more comfortable by allowing water vapor to pass to the outside of the
   garment while retaining warmth.
• Close fitting internal cuffs – prevents the wind from intruding or the garment sleeve from riding
up when donning an over garment.
• Draw cord hem – seals lower part of jacket from wind intrusion.
• Internal storm guard – stops the wind from getting past the zipper.
• External chest pocket – an easy storage spot for credentials, MP3 players, or cell phones.
• 2 zipped hand pockets – for use as hand warmers or storage.

 Gill Softshell Jacket (1611)

Softshell fabric technology has revolutionized the outdoor clothing sector in recent years, and is becoming increasingly important and more widely available in the marine sector. The new Softshell Jacket (1611) from Gill features a fabric that is lightweight, windproof, waterproof and breathable, but has the added advantage of 4 way stretch, which is not possible in most waterproof materials.

Softshell jackets are a more contemporary take on the traditional crew jacket, with a more technical look and feel. A micro- fleece lining provides warmth and there is also adjustable cuffs and drawcord hem to prevent water ingress. With a choice of three colors – Graphite, Navy or Silver Gray, the Softshell Jacket will co-ordinate with other garments in the Gill range and look just as good in the Yacht Club as it does on the water. Softshell garments have been traditionally high value items, yet the new Gill Jacket provides the same high quality at an affordable price.

Water repellant finish
Fleece lined
Cuff and hem adjusters

February 11th, 2010

The New Gill Race Collection, the highest performing sailing race gear ever designed, is now available online at Point Loma Outfitting. The New Gill Race Collection has been designed, tested and race proven for use in warmer conditions.

San Diego-February 11, 2010  The ultimate performance racing range, the Gill Race Collection has been designed, tested and race proven for use in warmer conditions where weight, performance and protection can be the key to success.

The Race Collection is the end result of 14 months of research and development with input from Terry Hutchinson and Team Quantum (TP52) and sailors from Barking Mad (Farr 40) and Team Aqua.

Each piece of the new collection was tested and proven under race conditions in Mediterranean, USA and Caribbean – Audi Medcup, Rolex Farr 40 Championship, Key West, Miami and congressional Cup.

The end result of the program achieved our objective – to design, develop, build and test the best, most innovative, highest performing, collection of performance day gear ever. Here are the results:
•The Race Collection jacket is the lightest performance sailing jacket on the market. http://www.pointlomaoutfitting.com/p/GRC001-SG.html
•The waterproofs are highly breathable, incredibly flexible and as light as is possible with current technology.
•The Collection covers most of the protective needs of the sailor, from fast drying wicking, tops with high UV protection, to warm stretchy soft shell, mid or outer layer all the way through to full waterproofs.
•The collection is visually coordinated to give a professional, sporty look across the boat, regardless of which pieces each member of the team is wearing.
