SLAM Shops and Point Loma Outfitting are proud to annouce the arrival of the new SLAM Skiff line of clothing designed by world renowned Skiff racers and designers including Julian Bethwaite. Bethwaite Design also designed the Olympic Class Skiff 49er, and the popular 29er as well as numerous other skiff one-design classes. In addition to Bethwaite’s input, Anthony “Jack” Young had significant influence on the designs of the SLAM Skiff Collection. Young is a multiple world champion in the 18ft Skiff Class. It was young that felt the current offerings to skiff sailors were to heavy, and resulted in the sailor overheating in all but the colder environments.
The collection is designed by skiff sailors, for skiff sailors. The differentiating feature of this line is the ability for the sailor to layer their gear to best match the current conditions. The tops run from a short-sleeve rash guard to the long-sleeve Titanium Top, and have been designed to be worn together. The bottoms range from The Skiff Short to the ¾ Hiker. All of the pieces use multiple densities of cloth, depending on the placement and intended use. Lighter cloth is used where more flexibility is required; thicker where more warmth is needed.
The new SLAM Skiff collection is now available. Here are a few of the newest items of the SLAM Skiff collection available from SLAM Shops and Point Loma Outfitting.
